Quickly becoming everyone's favorite "villains-of-the-week," The Wrecking Crew's unique traits helped establish them as Marvel mainstays.

The Wrecking Crew are some of Marvel's most enduring villains, a quartet of super-powered punchers who have fought (and lost to) most of Marvel's mightiest. Originally appearing in Defenders (Vol. 1) #17 — by Len Wein, Sal Buscema, Dan Green, Glynis Wein, Gaspar Saladino, and Annette Kawecki — the group has battled everyone from Thor and the Avengers to Squirrel Girl and the Runaways.

Led by the Wrecker (Dirk Garthwaite), the Wrecking Crew comprises Thunderball (Dr. Eliot Franklin), Piledriver (Brian Calusky), and Bulldozer (Henry Camp). The supervillain team has continually been a standby for evil armies and packed prison scenes, but there is more depth to this group than meets the eye.

As perennial villains-of-the-week, the Wrecking Crew have made excellent fodder for various Marvel property adaptations. The Wrecking Crew has appeared in Marvel's Ultimate imprint as well as the Kurt Busiek/George Peréz JLA/Avengers, where Wonder Woman defeated them in one panel.

The Wrecking Crew has also appeared in various animated adaptations, featured as enemies in The Superhero Squad Show, Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers, among others. The group has also appeared in video games, like Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and Avengers Alliance. In the realm of live TV, they serve as antagonists in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law.
