Becca may have been a doting wife at one point, but her priorities change following the birth of her son. Billy Butcher, on the other hand, is simply unable to understand her devotion to Ryan, which drives a deeper wedge between them. Becca takes her maternal responsibilities with extreme seriousness, going so far as to reject Billy in favor of Ryan.
Even her dying words revolve around her son, as she makes Billy promise to safeguard him from Homelander. Becca's compassionate nature rubs off on her husband, who eventually develops fatherly feelings for Ryan.
