Overwatch 2 players have noticed that a new character plays almost identical to Roadhog, and this makes the beta a lot less fun to play.

CBR supports the hard work of developers and industry professionals to create the video games fans all know and love, but it's important to remember the ongoing allegations that Activision-Blizzard is facing when making decisions about the games you play. You can find CBR's continuing coverage of the Activision-Blizzard allegations here.

Overwatch 2 is almost here, and fans who have pre-ordered the Watchpoint Edition of the game have early access through the game's beta that lasts until July 18. With the beta, fans have access to the new 5v5 format, the new game mode Push, the new map Paraíso, the updated 32-character roster, and two new characters: Sojourn and Junker Queen.

The beta has given fans some early impressions and opinions of the game and its characters. Opinions of Junker Queen point to the fact that she is just a more robust and complicated Roadhog. This can come off as lazy game design to have a new character with recycled abilities, and it's boring to play a character who is just so similar to another. Junker Queen has also begun to frustrate players as her abilities keep her from dying and make it difficult for players to stay alive to fight back.

Roadhog has been a staple character in Overwatch since it was first released in 2016. Roadhog is a part of the tank class of characters with abilities that highlight mid- to close-range combat. First, Roadhog's Chain Hook ability is used to pull enemies to him, so he can combo a melee and fire his close-range shotgun, the Scrap Gun, for instant kills.

Junker Queen stands out from Roadhog with her support ability, Commanding Shout, and passive ability, Adrenaline Rush. Commanding Shout increases the health of Junker Queen and her allies, and Adrenaline Rush passively heals her with the more damage she inflicts, similar to Reaper. With this combo, she not only supports herself but also her allies, unlike Roadhog's support that only helps himself.

Adrenaline Rush also makes it very difficult to kill Junker Queen if the player knows how to combo her abilities. Junker Queen's ultimate ability, Rampage, is possibly her most frustrating ability to deal with because once a player is hit by this melee rush attack, they cannot heal themselves or be healed by allies. Chances are, once players are hit by Rampage, they are likely done for.

With all these abilities, Junker Queen has essentially made Roadhog an obsolete character. Junker Queen has also been viewed as an auto-pick within the Overwatch community, and players feel this makes the game stale and boring. Overwatch 2 is still in beta, and Activision-Blizzard has time to change Junker Queen and Roadhog. But for now, the beta can be difficult for some players to return to.
