The fact is, the Paper Girls series is far from a loyal adaptation of the comics. This doesn't mean the series is bad. In fact, it gained many fans almost immediately. Unfortunately, it also disappointed many fans of the original comic. Whether it's due to a lack of complete arcs or simply interesting characters, Amazon failed to deliver a proper live-action adaptation.
On a first watch, it's obvious the Amazon Prime series tried to incorporate the friendship between Tiff, Mac, Erin, and KJ as the main topic. Unfortunately, it didn't come through, and the first eight episodes barely cemented the sentimental connection between the girls.
On the contrary, the comic uses their friendship as a narrative thread for readers to follow. As it's revealed in the last pages, their relationship is key to fixing the war and saving themselves. This is yet another thing from the comics fans would've loved to see in a second season.
