In anime, a villain's defeat is considered to be the culmination of their narrative purpose. Usually, it is some awesome or climatic moment where the protagonist saves the innocent, takes revenge for a previous wrongdoing, or overcomes the last obstacle before succeeding in their goals.

However, there are some villain downfalls so deeply unsatisfying that it provided no catharsis whatsoever to the audience. These villains met their end unceremoniously given how important they were to the story, thanks to terrible execution or simply being done off-screen.

However, since Nui sacrificed herself in order to stabilize Ragyo's plans, Ryuko never had the satisfaction of killing her personally. Worse yet, their final fight was only halfway finished, meaning that fans will never know the full extent of Nui's abilities.
