World of Warcraft players have wished for a multitude of Azeroth's peoples to be added, especially after the introduction of "allied races."

The Dragonflight expansion for World of Warcraft doesn't just bring new adventures and land to explore, but also a new race in the form of dracthyr: draconic shapeshifters native to the previously enigmatic Dragon Isles. While this new race has its fans, others can't help but look at the game's history and muse about what else could have been.

From long-standing allies in lore to variants of already playable races, players have wished for a multitude of Azeroth's peoples to be added, especially after the introduction of "allied races." Some may be long shots, but others have had more concrete claims; for example, animations uncommon to NPCs, unusual levels of customization, and at least one actively being scrapped partway through development.

An ancient race from Draenor, the ogres not only served as the ancestors of the modern orc but also one of the first races to build an empire in that tumultuous world. Gifted with brute strength and an innate knack for arcane magic, the ogres eventually migrated to Azeroth during the First War.

Between their allegiance to the Horde and their surprisingly deep history, it's strange that ogres are yet to become playable, and many fans would rejoice if they ever did. While they might not have the most detailed models, the developers have considered them as possible candidates at various points throughout WoW's history.
